Charlie spent a number of years like most men of his age, doing national service for his country.  This took him to the jungles of Malaya with the Royal Corps of Signals where he fought alongside the famous Ghurkha regiment.

 These unfortunately are the only photo's of Charlie's national service remaining. The picture on the left was taken off a negative that was found the year before he passed away. I took it to a photographers and had it repaired, enlarged and developed. I gave it to him framed the  Christmas before he passed away, it was great to see his face light up so much. The picture was taken in Malaya with four Malayan children and himself.
